Y Street partner schools receive up to $2,000 for their club or school while simultaneously tackling important issues related to tobacco, nutrition, and obesity prevention. As a Y Street partner school, you:

• Help recruit high school students in your school to attend a Y Street training conducted by our program staff.
• Earn money for your club/school as Y Street youth complete program milestones. This money can be used for whatever your club/organization needs - it’s entirely up to you.

After the training, youth can become members of Y Street and work on campaign activities throughout the year. By participating in Y Street, youth at your school will:

• Develop leadership and activism skills. They may even attend state and national conferences to present their work!
• Have the opportunity to earn scholarships, awards, and community service hours.
• Be involved in creating real change in their school and community.

Y Street covers all costs associated with the Y Street training, events, and projects. Y Street partner schools are NOT expected to utilize any portion of their grant award towards any Y Street program efforts.

Being part of Y Street means that you are an activist fighting for Virginia’s future by promoting healthy lifestyles…and having fun while doing it. We do this by:

• Leading projects and events that educate and engage the public.
• Presenting to Key Decision Makers at local, state, and national meetings and conferences.
• Earning points to cash in for rewards like gear, electronics, and scholarships.
• Working with other passionate youth activists to make a difference and create real social change statewide.
